Counting rules behind the DrClear figures

Counting rules sit behind the two figures DrClear House Clearance publishes most: 13,000+ clearances completed since 2005, and 95% landfill diversion. This page sets out what each figure counts, what evidences it, and what it leaves out, so you can judge both numbers before you book.

  • Clearance count: one property cleared equals one clearance, taken from booking records.
  • Landfill diversion: measured by volume, and evidenced by Waste Transfer Notes.
  • Google rating: a separate figure from customer reviews, never combined with either of the above.

How the clearance count works

The clearance count comes from DrClear’s booking records, counted from the year the business started, 2005. The rule is one property cleared equals one clearance.

  • One property, one clearance: a house cleared with its loft, garage and shed counts once, not four times.
  • Booking records, not estimates: the count comes from recorded bookings, one per property, not from van loads or items.
  • A floor, not a ceiling: the plus sign means the count has passed that number.

Every job counts once each time the team attends: single-item and bulky waste collections, return visits to the same property, and commercial clearances. The count was last taken from the booking records in March 2026.

How the landfill diversion figure works

The landfill diversion figure measures the share of collected material, by volume, that does not go to landfill. Waste Transfer Notes evidence it: each clearance produces a note recording the waste transferred.

Diversion covers four routes, and the figure counts all four together:

  • Reuse: items passed on to be used again.
  • Donation: items given to charity.
  • Recycling: materials separated and sent for recycling.
  • Recovery: material that goes for treatment instead of landfill. Upholstered seating containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs) goes for destruction at an authorised facility, as Environment Agency guidance requires, and that counts here.

Why “diverted”, not “recycled”

DrClear describes the figure as landfill diversion because recycling is only one of the four routes it counts. Calling the whole figure “recycled” would overstate the recycling share and hide reuse, donation and recovery. The label matches what the number measures.

What the figures do not mean

Each figure answers one narrow question, and none of them stretches to cover another.

The 5.0 Google rating comes from customer reviews on the DrClear Google Business Profile. It is a separate figure.

The job count comes from booking records, not from reviews. DrClear never presents one number as evidence for the other.

The diversion figure describes total volume collected. It is not a promise about the share diverted on any single job, because what a property holds decides what can be reused, recycled or recovered.

Frequently asked questions

Can I check the diversion figure for my own clearance?

Your Waste Transfer Note records the waste transferred from your clearance, and DrClear issues one on every clearance. It supports your duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Ask DrClear about the routes your items took when you book, and read what happens to your items on the dedicated page.

Does the clearance count include commercial work?

The count applies the same rule to every booking: one property cleared equals one clearance. Offices, shops, warehouses and factories are properties, so a commercial clearance counts once, exactly like a house. The count runs from 2005, when Krzysztof Szczesny started DrClear.

Why does DrClear publish how it counts?

A figure without its method cannot be checked. Publishing the counting rule next to the number lets a solicitor, landlord or procurement team test the claim instead of taking it on trust. The same reasoning keeps the Google rating out of both figures on this page.
