Clearance process at DrClear House Clearance

The clearance process at DrClear House Clearance runs in four steps: a free photo quote, a total price confirmed in writing, the clearance itself, and a Waste Transfer Note on every clearance. Founder Krzysztof Szczesny leads every job personally. The same four steps apply to a single flat in Birmingham and a full commercial unit in Wolverhampton.

  • Photo quote: send pictures, receive a written price.
  • Price confirmed in writing: no undisclosed labour or disposal charges added on the day.
  • Clearance day: sorted, separated and swept.
  • Waste Transfer Note: a documented record to support your duty of care.

Step 1: send photographs for a free quote

A photo quote starts the process. Send photographs of every room, loft, garage and outbuilding to [email protected], with the property postcode, the access details and your preferred dates. You can also send them by WhatsApp or text to 07958 429751, or through the form on this site. Mark anything that stays behind and anything you believe has value.

When photographs cannot show the job properly, DrClear visits the property to quote in person.

Step 2: receive a written total price

DrClear confirms the total price before work begins, with no undisclosed labour or disposal charges added on the day. The quoted price is the price you pay. If the property holds items of value, you choose the route: offset against the fee, the proceeds passed to you, or disposal.

Once you accept, you pick the date. Same-day and next-day availability depends on the number of jobs already booked for that day, so call 07958 429751 for a short-notice date. Lines open Mon-Sun 08:00-21:00.

House Clearance starts from £575. Your quote depends on volume, access, separately handled items and labour time.

Step 3: clearance day

Krzysztof Szczesny leads the team on site. The team clears the items agreed in the quote and separates what cannot share a load:

  • Upholstered seating: sofas, armchairs and other upholstered seating are kept out of the general load, never compacted with it, and go for destruction at a facility authorised to accept them. Environment Agency guidance on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) rules out landfill for this waste.
  • Electricals: fridges, washing machines and other electrical items are kept out of the general load, in line with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013.
  • Personal paperwork: documents, financial records and sensitive paperwork found during a clearance are segregated and destroyed, never discarded with general waste. DrClear can provide confirmation of secure disposal on request.
  • Data-bearing devices: DrClear removes data-bearing devices from the property and physically destroys them in-house, so the contents cannot be recovered.

The job ends with a final sweep: the property is left swept and tidy. Deep cleaning is available if booked separately.

Personal paperwork, photographs and items of value found during a clearance are set aside for the family before anything is removed. Valuables such as medals and jewellery go into secure storage and are returned to the executor before the general clearance begins.

Step 4: Waste Transfer Note and invoice

A Waste Transfer Note is issued on every clearance. Your duty of care requires that waste goes only to an authorised person, with a written description of the waste. DrClear is a registered waste carrier, and the note gives you a documented record of the waste transfer to support your duty of care under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. You can see the format in advance on the sample Waste Transfer Note.

An itemised invoice follows the work. An itemised list of what was removed is also available on request, which helps a landlord or executor who needs a record of the contents.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the clearance process take from first photo to clearance day?

The process length depends on your date and DrClear’s diary. Same-day and next-day clearances depend on the number of jobs already booked for that day. Call 07958 429751, Mon-Sun 08:00-21:00, to check the earliest date before you send photographs.

Who carries out the clearance?

Founder Krzysztof Szczesny leads every DrClear job personally, with his team. All DrClear staff are Disclosure-Checked (DBS). The team loads, separates upholstered seating and electricals from the general load, and finishes with a final sweep of the property.

What paperwork do I receive after the clearance?

You receive a Waste Transfer Note on every clearance and an itemised invoice after the work. An itemised list of removed items and written confirmation of secure disposal for destroyed paperwork are both available on request. The Waste Transfer Note supports your duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Can the price change on the day?

DrClear confirms the total price before work begins, with no undisclosed labour or disposal charges added on the day. The quoted price is the price you pay. Include every room, loft and outbuilding in your photographs so the quote covers the whole job.
